How long is the booking for?
The wedding venue is booked in two hour windows and is available to use for 1 hour and 45 minutes. This gives us 15 minutes at the end of each ceremony to prepare the venue for the next couple.
How could we use the time allocated?
It’s completely up to you! But as a guide, if you’ve booked Arches from 10am to midday, you might have a friend or wedding planner arrive at the venue at 10am and set up the music or add a few personal styling touches such as photos. You can even change the overall colour of the room if you want to as we have LED lights installed.
Guests might start arriving from 10.15am onwards. The bride arrives at 10.30am and makes final preparations in the dressing room. At 10.45am the ceremony begins. And then from 11am you have time to mingle with your guests in the venue or the garden before leaving at 11.45am.
Where can I find a registrar?

How many guests can we have?
The wedding venue is licensed for 120 guests in total and we have seating for 104.
Can we have music at our ceremony?
You can play whatever music you like. The venue is equipped with surround sound Sonos speakers. So before you arrive, download the Sonos S2 app, connect to the system at the venue and play music from your phone. (Make sure it’s Sonos S2.)
Do we have to tidy up after our ceremony?
Please take any personal items with you such as photos, bunting, balloons or empty bottles of fizz.
Are there catering facilities at the venue?
No, there isn’t a kitchen or any kind of food preparation area at the wedding venue.
How do we access the venue?
There are steps leading down from the car park above, right down to the front of the venue, where you’ll find the doors open in time for your ceremony. A public pathway also runs in front of the venue. This can be accessed via steps from the A399 (Woodlands) one end and via a ramp from Woodlands the other.
The ramp which runs from Woodlands makes it easy to get to the venue as a wheelchair user, while access to the venue itself is via a small ramp at side of the building. Please note that wheelchair access to the garden is limited.
Can I bring a pet?
Yes, you can. Dogs on leads are welcome.
Can I smoke?
The venue is non-smoking as is the garden. However, you can smoke on the public pathway in front of the venue.
Are there places to stay nearby?
Combe Martin is a beautiful place to stay and there are some gorgeous local hotels and B&Bs nearby waiting to give you a Devon welcome. Take a look at our directory.
Where can I park?
There’s a public car park above Arches and there are numerous car parks throughout the village which are within walking distance to the venue.
Where is a good meeting place before the ceremony?
Before the ceremony, guests can meet at the venue itself. Or you could meet at a local watering hole like the Dolphin Inn then all walk down together. It’s just a short stroll away.
We live locally. Do we get a discount?
Yes! If you or your partner live in the EX34 post code, you receive a 25% discount when you book the wedding venue Sunday to Friday.
How do I book the bridal suite at the same time?
There are numerous weddings at Arches during the course of one day. But there’s only one bridal suite! You can absolutely book the Bridal Suite at the same time and for as many nights as you need – just add your dates during checkout. The bridal suite can be booked overnight from 3pm to 11am.
Can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking up to 30 days before your wedding day and receive a full refund minus a £100 reservation fee. If you cancel less than 30 days before your booking, we’re unable to offer any refund.
How do I access the bridal suite if there’s a wedding taking place in the venue downstairs?
The bridal suite has a completely separate entrance to the wedding venue, halfway down the stairs on the side of the building. So you can come and go without crossing paths with any wedding guests.
Can a few of us sleep in the bridal suite before or after the wedding?
Only two people can sleep in the bridal suite. But if you and your partner want dinner with a couple of friends on the balcony the night before the wedding, or the bride and bridesmaids want their hair and make-up done in the bridal suite on the day itself, that’s absolutely fine.
Is there a kitchen in the bridal suite?
There’s a small kitchen with a toaster, microwave, kettle, fridge and sink. So there’s plenty of space to keep a few bottles of fizz in order to celebrate the occasion.
Can we smoke in the bridal suite?
There’s a no-smoking policy in the bridal suite and on the balcony. However, you can smoke on the public pathway in front of the venue.
