Real Weddings at Arches: Stories by the Sea
A round-up of beautiful ways couples have styled their day at our little beachside gem. If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the many love stories that have unfolded at Arches, it’s this: no two weddings are ever the same.
Tucked away just steps from the North Devon coast, Arches offers a peaceful, intimate space where couples can shape the day exactly as they imagine. Everything from pastel-perfect spring elopements to candlelit winter ceremonies and everything in between.
Here’s a look at how some of our couples brought their wedding vision to life at Arches. We hope it inspires you to dream up your own seaside celebration.
Soft Spring Romance
Florals, fresh air, and an aisle framed by pastel petals.
One couple embraced the season with an ethereal ceremony filled with seasonal blooms in soft pinks and creams.
They lined the aisle with bud vases and kept the indoor decor minimal, letting the natural light bounce off the pastel walls and sheer silk panels. A local florist created a whimsical arch for the ceremony that doubled as the perfect photo backdrop later.
Style Notes: Garden-inspired, natural textures, delicate detailing.
Favourite Moment: Sneaking off to the beach at golden hour for just-married portraits.
Boho by the Sea
Macramé, bare feet, and a relaxed, joyful vibe.
Arches is the perfect blank canvas for a laid-back, barefoot wedding that was big on heart. The ceremony we’re thinking of included a live acoustic guitarist and lots of handmade details. Think dried flower bouquets, a handwoven aisle runner, and welcome drinks served in mason jars.
Inside, the room was reimagined for the wedding breakfast with low wooden tables, floor cushions, and fairy lights strung across the ceiling beams.
Style Notes: Earthy tones, beachy texture, DIY spirit.
Favourite Moment: Guests heading straight from the ceremony to a celebratory paddle in the sea.
Coastal Elegance
This couple leaned into classic coastal style with a palette of navy, white, and sea-glass green. Their ceremony was framed by two towering floral arrangements flanking the registrar’s table, with crisp linens and glassware reflecting the natural light.
Dinner was served at long banquet tables dressed with white roses and eucalyptus, and the evening ended with sparklers and dancing in the courtyard just beyond the doors.
Style Notes: Refined, romantic, and subtly nautical.
Favourite Moment: The toast that started with “To the sound of the sea…” and ended in happy tears.
Autumn Glow
Warm tones, candlelight, and cosy coastal charm.
This October wedding proved just how magical an autumn wedding by the sea can be. Think terracotta and rust accents, velvet ribbons, and hundreds of flickering candles lining the aisle.
With fewer hours of daylight, the ceremony had a golden, intimate glow, and the afterparty moved effortlessly into the evening with blankets, mulled cider, and a stargazing moment out on the lawn.
Style Notes: Moody, tactile, seasonal.
Favourite Moment: Sharing their vows under a canopy of fairy lights as the sun dipped behind the cliffs.
Just Us Two
A private ceremony with nothing but love, sea air, and simplicity.
Not everyone wants a big wedding, and Arches is equally perfect for those who want something pared back and private. The couple we’re thinking of opted for a weekday elopement with just their photographer as a witness.
They styled the space with a single floral centrepiece, wrote their own vows, and took their time soaking in every second. After the ceremony, they walked along the beach, shoes in hand, the waves as their soundtrack.
Style Notes: Minimalist, meaningful, unhurried.
Favourite Moment: A first dance on the sand with nobody else watching.
